People are asking about Wiki Nuke by Dan Lew, and if this linkbuilding tool can help you make money online. Let’s review the following points or assumptions about SEO and driving traffic to your website…

People are worried that recent changes in the SEO algorithms of Google will or have even diminished the effectiveness of backlinks, depending on the websites providing such backlinks.

In other words, a lot of websites are no longer giving you enough backlink juice, because the search engines are not placing as much importance on those sites compared to before.

What Wiki Nuke does is help you automatically place articles and backlinks in Authority Sites (think media wikis) that still have enough SEO juice to make the backlink count for your site.

What do we see in the above Wiki Nuke Review video?

1. Content is created either originally or by copy/pasting and modifying articles found all over the web.

2. The article is spun, in an effort to make it look unique, and to help produce even more articles.

3. The spun articles (together with the backlinks to your website) are then automatically submitted to various media wikis.

Is this spam? Some say: “It’s not spam if people don’t abuse it.”

So our question is: How do the Wiki Nuke creators ensure that people don’t abuse their SEO tool?

Other questions to consider:

What happens if some Wiki Nuke customers bombard the various “authority sites” with spun articles whose main goal is to simply increase the number of backlinks to their sites?

How will these “authority sites” maintain their SEO authority status if most of their content eventually consists basically of spun articles?

How long will this type of linkbuilding approach last?

While this may give the impression that Wiki Nuke appears like a short-term type of SEO tool which may be effective for quick online marketing campaigns (e.g., viral topics and Facebook marketing tactics), you should think thrice before relying on this for your long-term websites whose main goal is to build sustainable authority.

Remember: From the SEO expert’s short-term perspective, SEO is an on-going battle between search engine optimization specialists (whose goal is online visibility for their clients) and search engines (whose goal is to provide relevant results to people searching for solutions or information).

And you are in the best position to determine which of your websites can go for quick, short-term SEO tactics such as Wiki Nuke, and which ones are best served by long-term, sustainable strategic SEO campaigns.

You need search engine optimization or SEO to improve the visibility of your site in the search engines. While there are lots of SEO gurus out there, and tons of rules to remember, you’ll sometimes come across a down-to-earth SEO expert who freely shares her expertise.

Although she does not consider herself an SEO guru, Nancy Andrews has a way of connecting with the beginner internet marketer. Some of her methods are the complete opposite of what several “experts” have been doing all these years, and yet her search engine tactics work.

Here’s Nancy speaking during the Underground III seminar…

About the above video: “Nancy Andrews doesn’t claim to be an SEO expert, but has held the top spot on Google for ‘Golf Gifts’ and on page 1 for ‘Golf Accesories’ for 4 years. as well as having private clients that make money by being on Page 1.”

With the thousands of videos available in YouTube today, how can anyone find those internet marketing gems just waiting to be picked up? I mean, without you having to waste an hour of your already limited time going through all those YT vids?

What if someone could search through YouTube for you, save hours of your time, and deliver to you those useful videos about Affiliate Marketing, Niche Marketing, Blog Marketing, Blogs, Monetization, eBay, MySpace, Social Networking, Videos, PPC, Link Building, SEO, Marketing Research, Keyword Research, Niche Research, RSS, On-Page / Off-Page Strategies, Product Creation, and many more!

Well, check out the Marketing Minesweeper Membership today.

Wouldn’t it be so convenient if you could easily search for various web sites, and then have those results sorted according to PageRank? This way, you will easily see which sites or web pages to target for the purpose of gaining high-powered backlinks.

Do you want to succeed on the web? Then produce lots of content, and gain backlinks that point to the content that you’ve published online. When someone creates a clickable link that leads their readers to your site, that’s a backlink.

While publishing articles that attract people to link to you is a useful thing to do, you are still unable to control what those other bloggers will show in the anchor text (the underlined clickable text).

If you want better control (so that you get additional SEO juice), you can create the post yourself (i.e., in the comment area of other blogs), and then display the anchor text that you want.

Here’s what you need to find out: Where are the blog pages that have high PageRank, and which accept comments?

I’m preparing the Special Report (which is free to Host4Profit Promo 1028 Customers) which reveals how to use the PageRank Search tool available in SEOChat.com, so that you can easily find those blog pages worth commenting in (from an SEO point of view, that is).

Stay tuned for that!

They seem to be on a database-building mission, though, because you will need to submit first your Name, Email Address, and even your birthday first before you are allowed into the promo.)

The SEO Mindset (by Brad Callen) is a 128-page PDF ebook that aims to give you “long-term strategies for getting and keeping a top search engine ranking.” Is this the ultimate, sustainable blueprint? Or is it just fluff?

For me, it’s a thick and thin ebook. Here’s why…

It’s a thick, one-inch pile of letter-sized sheets once you print it out. The thick dark borders on top and at the bottom of the pages will probably add to the value of the ebook. Printer toner, afterall, is not cheap.

(In other words, how I wish the author did away with those dark 1cm borders which don’t truly give value to the book. But anyway…)

Brad Callen’s The SEO Mindset does live up to its promise: you will learn (if you don’t already know) several long-term SEO strategies.

It’s not rocket science.

And that’s where certain parts of the ebook are quite thin. For example, you’ll learn that it’s better to consider various sources of SEO information. Don’t just rely on a single point of info.

(Sounds familiar? It’s like the usual get a second opinion approach when dealing with doctors, right?)

If you’re looking for ways to experiment and test the different sources of SEO info (i.e., from Google vs from anti-Google), however, you won’t find those tactical tidbits in Callen’s ebook.

Afterall, it is a strategic ebook. It’s quite thin in terms of SEO tactics and techniques.

You may also wonder why the ebook does not deal with WordPress. For example, you’ll learn that the TITLE of your web page is important to its SEO success.

Yet how, exactly, do you apply that strategy to a WordPress-powered site? Perhaps that’s beyond the scope of this macro-view type of material.

I did like certain parts of the ebook, though. Brad Callen provides links to several free programs he created, which you can use online to speed up your SEO activities. For example, do you know how to easily submit your site to various directories for free?

The 3-page SEO Master Plan (Chapter 4) will help guide you who have at least some amount of search engine optimization experience. Chapter 12 deals with launching your site. And the 16-page section on Keyword Research (Chapter 6) will give you a lot of new info, especially if you haven’t seen Ed Dale’s “Thirty Day Challenge.”

Just to be clear, I’m not knocking Brad Callen. Afterall, his SEO track record speaks for itself. I simply can’t shake the feeling, though, that Brad held back on a lot of things in the $47 ebook. Who knows? Perhaps it will be revealed in the $847 OTO (by… is it Brad Callen or Ken Hammond?).

If you are a complete SEO newbie, then…

Step #1: Click here and get a copy of The SEO Mindset today.

Step #2: Please forward your receipt to ManuelViloria@GMail.com, and place in the subject line: SEOMindset. Your receipt will in effect be a discount coupon for the following Premium Service:

As soon as I verify your transaction, you’ll qualify for a special bonus: 2 weeks of SEO coaching via email (i.e., WordPress tactics to support the SEO strategy in the ebook), as a way of thanking you for getting the ebook via my aff link.

If you’re no longer a newbie and have already learned some basic or strategic SEO tips and techniques in various online forums, then you might want to pass up on Brad Callen’s The SEO Mindset. But if you’re the type who likes to collect SEO ebooks, then go ahead.

You’ve probably heard about all those SEO consultants promising you that your site will get listed in the Google search engine results within a stunningly quick 24 hours. Well, some pages are getting indexed and ranked (sometimes as high as #1) in as short as 7 minutes.

Here’s why that happens…

According to Cheeze.com, Google algorithm changes favor fresh content over links. This means that even if a new blog post doesn’t have that many incoming links (it’s new, right?), it will still rank high in Google because it is fresh.

Google wants fresh content, and it wants to show it immediately.

This is great news for those who focus on producing content. They don’t have to obsess as much over SEO. As long as their web pages are search engine robot friendly, all they need to do is publish, and the rest is history.

Seven minute history, that is. Nope, there’s no 15-minutes of fame.

Afterall, your high ranking is good only until the next blogger or publisher comes up with even fresher content.

In the coming weeks, don’t be surprised if you find online marketers testing and trying to figure out what “fresh” means. Is it a new post? An old article newly posted? An old page renovated? What exactly is fresh content?

Anyway, the next time someone offers you SEO services which promise you instant high rankings in the search engines, don’t brush them off. Ask them first if they can do it without using fresh content. And if they can hang on to those rankings for at least 15 days.

If there such as thing as over-blogging? At what point do search engines start to get tired of your content? Here are the results of one such experiment…

The first time your blog ever mentions a particular keyword phrase, the search engines get all excited. They index your post almost within 24 minutes (in certain cases).

If you later find more information, it appears to be better to just create a second blog post about that topic, instead of just updating your first post. You’ll discover that the SE crawlers will still lap up your content, even if it is the second time you’re writing about that particular topic.

The same thing happens when you publish a third post.

Beyond the third post, however, SE bots will display what appears to be SEO fatigue.

Even after 7 days, your latest post about a certain keyword phrase will somehow not appear in the popular search engine results pages for that particular phrase. You might be wondering why the bots were all over your posts the first three times.

The lesson? If you find yourself blogging about the same topic more than 3 times, please consider using different words in the title. Or else you’ll experience what I’ve experienced when writing about AdSense Resurrected (have you received your invitation yet from Zeila Rich?)

Take a look at the following timetable:

Nov 21 – AdSense Resurrected (AR)
Dec 03 – AR Christmas
Dec 18 – Inside AR
Dec 19 – AR Affiliates (SEO fatigue begins here)
Dec 22 – AR Deconstructed

You can’t really blame the search engine crawlers if they start to get cloyed with your posts. So go ahead and post no more than three times about your fave topic. And if you do need to add more info, try updating those existing three posts, or start a new one with a new title.

What does it take for real estate companies to gain increased visibility on the internet? Do they need to engage in a lot of SEO activities? Or does success lie in other avenues?

Take, for example, the case of Singapore HDB Property. They try to gain more backlinks, hoping that this will help drive more visitors to their site.

And let’s assume that it does actually bring in more visitors. What happens next? Will those readers turn into repeat visitors? Will they subscribe to the site’s RSS feed or even join a mailing list? Will these people buy the products and services that the site offers or recommends?

If you’re a real estate company trying to make its mark here on the web, you’ll need to establish the objectives of your web site. It would be better if you write these objectives, so that your webdesign team can easily assess if your site meets those targets.

Now surf on over to your site and look at what appears. Do you simply see a paragraph filled with more than a couple of links that lead to the same destination? If you do see such things, what kind of impression do you get?

It will help to build each web page with the visitor in mind.

If you make it obvious that you are focused on the interests of your visitors, then that page will rank high in the search engines. How is this possible? Human editors.

There are people who will manually review your web pages, and will manually rank such pages in the SERPs. How can this be humanly possible?

Well, if John Reese and his BlogRush team were able to weed out 10,000 non-qualifying blogs in less than a month, what do you think search engine organizations with deeper pockets can do?

So, what can real estate companies do? Work with an interest magnet.

An Interest Magnet is a web personality that attracts the interest or attention of a lot of people.

If you’re targeting real estate buyers, you don’t necessarily need to just build a real estate blog. You can work with an Interest Magnet who might blog about things that your target market is interested in. These topics might not necessarily be about real estate.

Afterall, your target market (real estate buyers) is not one-dimensional. Your potential customers have other hobbies, too. If you can find those Interest Magnets who can connect with your buyers, you can work together and market your property company much better.

In this post-PageRank slap world of SEO, we all need to revisit the power of true attraction. And if real estate is all about “location, location, location” then on the web it’s about “attention, attention, attention.”

John Chow has a popular blog at JohnChow.com, yet his site does not appear in the Google search engine results when you search for “John Chow.” Looks like John has caught the ire of certain people.

If you have a blog that looks like YourFirstNameYourSurname.com, but when you Google your full name your site does not even appear in the first page of the search results, then you have been John Chow-ed.

His pages are still in Google, but when I search for a unique sentence found in one of his posts, he either appears as the last entry on the first page (if there’s only one page of results), or doesn’t seem to appear at all.

SELaplana offers Four Lessons from the Google Bombing Experience.

What does this tell me? All our efforts to make our sites more visible in the search engine results can vaporize at the flick of a button…

…unless we somehow convince readers that our pages contain something useful. Or am I being too naively white hat-ish?

TIP: Spend more time producing content than changing the look of your site. Publish more posts rather than obsessively tweak or overly optimize your blog’s code. And lastly, encourage your readers to be less evil, lest you find yourself John Chow-ed.

One way of improving your site’s pagerank is to get some PR7 backlinks. Let’s see what are the more popular high pagerank sites that site developers use.

KDE-Look.org (PR7) has a network of sites, and they have a high pagerank because they are an “online source of applications, themes, wallpapers, documents and support for Linux Desktop users.”

Why does that translate to high pagerank? Popular techie sites tend to link to KDE because of the content that it offers to the IT crowd.

AnyBrowser.org/campaign (PR6) promotes the “Viewable With Any Browser” campaign. At the bottom of that page you’ll find around nine paid ad links, and this service appears to be a favorite among site owners look for quick high pagerank backlinks.

There are other sites where you can get a backlink, but those are usually focused on a particular industry. True, they won’t might linking to you even if your site’s theme centers on a completely unrelated topic. It’s much better, however, if the sites that do link to you are somewhat related to your niche topic.

Please remember, however, that high pagerank does not always translate to high traffic. But high PR has a way of giving you larger advertising revenue opportunities.

It’s quite tempting to accept Duncan Carver’s quick PR7 power blog package immediately without considering the following points.

1. Having a high pagerank such as PR7 does not mean you’ll surely rank high in the search engines. It does not automatically follow that your site will get flooded with traffic.

(I’ve seen sites with low PR outrank sites with higher PR.)

2. You can earn advertising revenues via link selling, but advertisers will not just look at PR. They’ll also look for traffic and even click-throughs. There are some, though, who will be happy with getting a link from your high PR site.

Here’s how the deal goes for $97 each month:

You’ll be given a folder in a high PR “authority site”, and that site will feature your folder. So, if you create blog entries in your folder which link to your existing sites, you’ll be able to pass along some PR juice to your other sites.

That’s how Duncan’s worm farming site is PR7 even if the domain was just registered in February 2007.

Which brings us to this next question: What happens to our folder if we no longer wish to pay the monthly $97 subscription fee?

Once we lose control over that folder, then we’ll also lose the high PR links that we pointed to our sites.

Based on a Text Link Ads value estimation tool, WormFarmingSecrets.com can earn an estimated $60 per month for each text link sold. Sell two links and that easily covers your $97.

Imagine a Squidoo set-up, where your lens is featured right from the start. Yes, that’s what $97 a month can give you.

I like Duncan Carver’s business model even more. Imagine, people will pay you so that they can add content to your authority site, which increases your site’s value even more (because of the original content).

I don’t know how Duncan created his authority site in the first place, but his free link management script may provide some clues. Afterall, when you give away a useful script, a lot of webpages will link back to your site.

Lots of backlinks equals higher pagerank for your site. And that perpetuates the authoritativeness of your website.

You can try Duncan Carver’s Power Blog offer to quickly gain a high PR for your sites. But please don’t stop there. Offer something useful in your webpages, so that other folks will naturally link to you.

Who knows? Someday yours will be THE authority site, and you’ll also get others to pay you just for the opportunity to add more content to your site.

June 16 UPDATE: I saw the authority site, and it has a pagerank of PR6. Duncan is optimistic that the PR will be higher in the next update (late July or early August?). Given that homepage PR6 plus the fact that links to inner blogs do not stay permanent on the homepage, I estimate those folders at PR4.

So, is it worth setting up a blog in his authority site at $97/month, given the present PR levels plus the fact that text link ads in the homepage are estimated at $34 per month per link?

It depends on your cash flow levels. If you join now, be prepared to spend time and money between now and October 2007 (about 5 months) before the links you place in that power blog pass on appreciable PR juice to your current websites.

Anyway, I’ll give another update in August. Let’s see how pagerank levels change at that time.

Did your site suffer a pagerank slap recently? How did other sites manage to preserve their pagerank?

I’ve seen some WordPress-powered blogs keep links to the Monthly Archives on their homepage, while others would move those links to an internal page. The theory here is that having fewer links on your homepage will give the remaining links more oomph as far as pagerank juice is concerned.

So, what about pagerank loss? From what I’ve seen, WP sites which display Monthly Archives links on the homepage are better able to preserve their pagerank.

It was a sample size of only 10 sites, so you might wish to expand this test further.

Apogee Search is a search engine marketing firm from Austin, Texas. They are letting others know about their website through various ways, such as via paid ReviewMe reviews.

I’m reminded of an earlier post about local SEO companies expanding their marketing arsenal, and it’s great to see Apogee Search coming out with their Search Marketing Blog.

This is an excellent way of displaying their SEO/SEM expertise, and it also helps their site rank high in the search engines. Afterall, how can they gain credibility if their own site does not appear in Google’s search engine results, right?

I appreciate learning from Apogee Search, for example, that just having a Google sitemap may get your pages indexed, but stuck in Supplemental limbo. This means that your indexed pages will not rank highly for certain keywords.

No wonder a number of websites with complete sitemaps don’t rank high. Those sites lacked a good internal linking structure, and thanks to the Apogee Search blog, I can now adjust those pages.

Among the services they offer are:

Paid Search Advertising

Natural Search Engine Optimization

Pay Per Call Management

Affiliate Marketing

Search Engine Marketing Training

Search Engine Marketing Analysis

I hope that their website prominently features a client list soon. At the moment, the testimonials appear as singe entries in some of the sidebars of their site.

That’s one of the challenges in SEO/SEM, because clients are typically sensitive about this kind of disclosure, because they are worried that their competitors may reverse-engineer their SEO efforts.

If Apogee Search can one day display their clients without fear of having their websites bumped off the first page of the search engine results, then that will handily serve as a confidence booster for potential clients who are still sitting on the SEO fence.

In a world of boundaries broken down by email and the internet, is there still room for local SEO companies?

For example, if you are Singapore’s Top SEO company, can you still adequately compete with other search engine optimization firms, when your customers can easily reach out to anyone in the world with the help of email?

The simple answer is: you can’t.

You simply cannot bank on your local expertise in the global world of SEO. You cannot, that is, if you rely simply on the web.

But if you network via local businesses in real life (e.g., attend local symposia or conferences), or if you resort to old-fashioned face-to-face marketing, then having a local presence for an e-global commodity will give you the edge.

If, for example, you target small and medium scale businesses whose main understanding of the internet is limited to email and online video, then physically showing up at their door thanks to your company being just a few blocks or an hour’s drive away from Orchard Road will help assure your clients that you are serious about helping them succeed.

Just because your target is limited to your country doesn’t mean, however, that you will be mindless of the even larger market out there. In that respect, it would help if you maintain a blog where others can read about your expertise.

In some cases, you may even be invited to speak in various international SEO conferences, gain exposure and additional contacts and friends, and even have photographs of you speaking in front of large groups of people.

These are examples of “social proof” which will help market your SEO company in an industry dominated by faceless flyers or “high rankings for your web site” pitches by telemarketers.

So, what are you waiting for? Increase your site’s search engine visibility today on your own, or get the help of SEO companies in your country right now lah.

If you’re planning to increase your site’s PR with the help of .edu backlinks, then this tip is for you.

Some people have been advising others to search for blogs in .edu sites, and then leave (hopefully relevant) comments in those blogs.

The thing is, leaving comments with links to your sites are tagged as “no follow”, which means those blog posts will not pass on any pagerank juice back to your site.

This technique, however, is not a waste of time. All you need to do is add the missing ingredient.

When you post a comment, do not put in your site’s homepage as your URL (your clickable commenter’s name will be the URL destination).

Instead, enter as your URL a specific page in your site.

That specific page should contain information that is useful, relevant or entertaining… from the point of view of people visiting the .edu blog you left a comment on. And if it’s interesting enough for the .edu blogger, then that gives you additional points.

You know what’s going to happen next, right? Those university students and bloggers will find your specific page worth blogging about. And when they do make a post about it, the deep link to your page will not carry a “nofollow” tag.

In other words, you will gain a non-reciprocal, direct link to an inner page in your site.

So, what exactly will college students find interesting? Ask your children, friends, and relatives. Or look back into your own history. What did YOU find interesting when you were a student?

Good luck and here’s to gaining increased search engine visibility, with the help of true .edu backlinks.

Ever wondered why you don’t see all the pages of your site when you issue the site: command in Google?

According to the Official Google Webmaster Central Blog, your search engine ranking results are not affected:

Our goal is to provide useful results to the searcher. However, with a site: command, searchers are likely looking for a full list of results from that site, so we are making a change to do that. In some cases, a site: search doesn’t show a full list of results even when the pages are different, and we are resolving that issue as well. Note that this is a display issue only and doesn’t in any way affect search rankings.

Why would Google think that two different pages in your site look the same? They might have the same (or closely similar) title and description.

You’ll end up with pages having the same description if you have the same meta description in those pages. The solution: Get rid of the meta description tag in the HEAD section of your web pages, or use unique meta descriptions.

For those of you who are experiencing this issue, do you really believe that the rankings of these “duplicate” pages are not affected, and that this is all just a “display” issue? I dunno. I’ve seen sites whose inner pages do not appear in the first page of the SERPs, even if the content is useful. We’ll see what happens now that the meta description tags in those pages have been adjusted.

Here’s an exercise you can try. Let’s say your site is called www.manuelviloria.com

Type the following in the Google search box:
site:www.manuelviloria.com

Go to the last page of search engine results, then scroll down to the bottom of the screen. You might find something that looks like this:

In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 171 already displayed. If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included.

Compare the results shown, with the number shown in the first page of the search results. True, it’s just a “display” issue and your pages are still there. Come to think of it, however, searchers will only find the you can repeat the search with the omitted results included link only if they reach the last page of the search engine results.

In other words, those other pages of yours will remain hidden to most people. Let’s hope Google is able to make those needed changes soon.

The lesson? Choose your web page titles carefully (avoid Same Title Part 1, Same Title Part 2), and use meta description tags properly.

(Hello to Dr. Clevens, a Melbourne plastic surgeon.)
