Two Years After AdSense

What happens if you post practically every day in your blog for two years? Will you earn a lot of AdSense dollars? Here's a case study of one such blog, plus some tips on how to improve your daily AdSense earnings.
Let's call it "Project B", a blog whose owner loves to write. After two years and over 600 posts, Project B delivers at least 500 pageviews each day. So, how much does it earn as a result of its multi-topic approach?
It earns $2.00 in AdSense revenues each day.
Sounds low, right? The blog owner truly enjoys writing, though, which explains why the blog is still kept fresh and updated to this day.
How can this be? Why are some blogs which contain less than 100 posts earn at least $2.50/day?
How can we increase our AdSense earnings?
1. Focus your blog on a particular topic. If you feel like covering other topics, then start a new blog. When you have a targeted blog, you can easily see if you are earning well from that topic. If you aren't, then you can remove your AdSense code from such web sites.
2. Choose a topic that people want to read. This ties in with your site traffic. The higher the traffic you attract, the faster you will be able to determine if your site is worth it (as far as AdSense is concerned). Then again, if you simply want to write, then blog away. But if you want to increase your hourly earnings, then you'll need to give the market what it wants.
3. Write longer blog entries. Again, this ties in with building traffic to your site. The longer your entries are, the higher the chance of having your web page rank high in search engines. Afterall, words are the food that search engine robots feast on.
Of course, it depends on your topic. If it's instructional in nature, what's the point of writing lengthy posts, right? You can only have a certain number of unique phrases for that lecture/topic.
But if you're writing about something consumer-oriented (i.e., digital camera), then there are more opportunities to write at length. For example, you can discuss the price, lens speed, ISO ratings, aperture settings, autofocus, flash accessories, and so on.
In the end, I hope you're not demotivated by the $2.00/day AdSense experience of Project B. When it first started, it was earning $1.00 every two months. Think about that.
