Kenneth Yu launches his Twitter Salvation System, where he claims that he will show you how to make money online with Twitter. Is this for real or is it just a scam? Interestingly enough, his sales letter quickly and unwittingly reveals the truth...

Truth #1: Kenneth does not rely on AdSense. He is using the power of copywriting or sales letter writing to persuade readers to buy his product. In this case, he is not using Twitter directly to make money. Instead, he is using it indirectly as he taps the market of people who want to cash in on this microblogging tool.

Truth #2: Some of the testimonials reveal parts of the Twitter Salvation System. One of the testimonials with the heading "5325% Increase in Followers Over a Weekend!" is a video featuring David Bailey. In his screenshots, you will notice that he has 80 Twitter followers. You will also see in the same screenshot that he is following over 1,000 people.

What does this reveal? It shows a shotgun approach when it comes to building followers in Twitter: Follow a large number of people, and a certain percentage of people will follow you back.

True, he is targeting a non-English speaking group on Twitter, but 80 followers versus 1,011 people being followed? It does not inspire as much confidence as in the case of someone who is following 3,100 people on Twitter and who has about 2,000 followers.

NOTE: Some people on Twitter have learned how to automatically follow people who follow them. In other words, if I were to give you a list of 1,000 people who auto-follow back, all you have to do is follow those 1,000 people in Twitter, and you'll have 1,000 followers in as short as just 3 hours!

Bottomline: Don't get overly excited over the ability of people to gain a "huge" following in Twitter.

Truth #3: $800 in 26 seconds? While it may be true that you can send a 140-character tweet and make money in seconds, what isn't being said up front is the amount of work that you need to do first, before that "money in seconds" feat can be accomplished. As they say, there's no such thing as an overnight success.

So, what's the point of the Twitter Salvation System? I'm not asking you to go out and buy it (although you will learn a lot if you try Twitter, even for just a couple of weeks). What I am highly encouraging you to do is to read the salesletter of Kenneth Yu, so that you can see examples of persuasive writing in action.

When you learn to write persuasively online, when you discover how to pre-sell, when you find out how to motivate people with just the power of words (whether your own or the words of other people via written and video testimonials), you will be able to make money online by directly selling your own infoproducts to your readers.

In other words, you won't be worried when your AdSense income periodically dips (natural business cycles), because you will have other streams of income coming your way. You can sell an ebook, or even build a membership site (think recurring income), but a huge chunk of your success will rest on your ability to write sales copy.

What makes Kenneth so persuasively, if not hypnotically effective in the salesletter of his Twitter Salvation System? I'll cover that in a future post. If you want to venture a couple of guesses, or if you would like to share your insight, experiences, or observations in the area of copywriting, feel free to comment below.

A new year is upon us. Isn't it time you try something new such as microblogging with Twitter and directly selling your own product? Talk to you soon... :-)
