Congratulations to Janette Toral for getting the word out on new blogs. Here are the Winners of the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2007 writing project:
- An Apple a Day (Aileen Apolo)
The Philosophical Bastard (Paolo Mendoza) - The D Spot (Dine Racoma)
- CokskiBlue (Coy)
- Make Money Online with a 13-Year Old (Carl Ocab)
- Culture Shiok!
Utakgago - Kubiertos
- FruityOaty
PinoyBlogero - The Dork Factor
The Anitokid Chronikos - Gibbs Cadiz
- Confessions of a Hopeless Romantic
What's the lesson here? Build a blog and people will come. If you promote your blog, that is.
And one way of doing that is to make yourself visible (in a useful, entertaining, or relevant way) in places where other bloggers congregate.
Examples of such online watering holes are the blogs of people who frequently post online: Janette Toral, Aileen Apolo, Abe Olandres, Annalyn Jusay, and Noemi Dado, to name a few.
You can't just blog in a vacuum. You need to read other blogs and interact with other bloggers, whether it's via the "online conversation" (comments section), meet-ups, events, and photo-ops.
Never underestimate the need for connection or belongingness even out here in the virtual world. All these technological trappings of the internet should fade into the background as you focus on basically reaching out to others.
And try to hide your astonishment when you happily discover that they, too, will be willing to reach out to you.
Again, congratulations to the winners of the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2007. Here's to more bloggers, and more traffic!

Ay you are so right manuel. Remember the Iblog 2 ? that was the first time I ever joined a blogger event. In a way it was to promote my blog and meet the faces behind the blog. I volunteered in that event as well. That's how my blog gained more readers. I love the fact that I have gained so many new friends and even reunited with old ones. Blogging is such a wonderful experience.
thanks for the congratulations! and yes, you are right, 8 months in the blogosphere and here i am, appreciative of the fact that i now have a diverse group of readers, from the young teens, to the young adults to the adults. thanks to some people who already have a name in the blogosphere, who one way or another embraced me in their community. that is why, i openly support new ones, and of course, another important thing is good content. cheerio!
Good post! I like what you said about "Build a blog and people will come. If you promote your blog, that is." It's so true and yet many bloggers don't know or practice this.
Btw, I quoted that line in my post about the same event.
Salamat po sa bati!
Much thanks for the congratulatory note!
@noemi - Thanks for sharing how your offline experiences have helped you online. I hope this encourages more bloggers to occasionally walk away from their computers and meet people in public events.
@SexyMom - So much has been achieved... and in only 8 months! Before, I used to think it would take at least a year for a blog to make any kind of impact. Glad to know we're just limited by our false beliefs.
@Jaypee - Keep on writing, building, and promoting. By the way, I've removed "nofollow" from the comments section of this blog.
@Aileen - Walang anuman po. Nakaka-inspire ka. Where do you get the energy to keep up your blogging energy?
@AnitoKid - You're welcome!
