Here are some observations gleaned from our continuing Squidoo experiment (affiliate marketing tips lens).

1. After about a week of not updating your Squidoo lens, the lensrank drops by about 650 daily.

2. Updating your lens (as simple as adding another RSS feed or even a list containing just two links) can improve your lens rank by around 3,000 points or 25% (in the case of our AMT lens).

What's the point of increasing one's lensrank? You're able to increase the chance of your lens making it to Squidoo's Top Lenses (arranged by lensrank) page, which has a pagerank of PR6.

Since the link to your Squidoo lens is a pure link, your lenspage will enjoy some amount of PR juice. That translates to a few search engine points, which helps make your lens rise up the search engine results.

Higher visibility in Google can eventually lead to more visitors. And we're not counting those Squidoo members who are monitoring the lensrank stats.

If more people go to your Squidoo lenspage, then that's another chance for you to send traffic to your non-Squidoo sites. Then again, is that one-click too many? Will people land in your Squidoo page and not proceed to your regular sites?

Given that risk, I wish there were a way to incorporate email forms in your Squidoo lens that invite readers to subscribe to your list.
