SEO and the Single Salesletter Page
289 words |
Can your site rank high in search engines if all you have is a single salesletter page, and none of those multi-product pages?
Not likely.
And if you've read or watched a video that shows how a single salesletter page was able to outrank even Yahoo for a certain keyword phrase, here's how you can verify that claim:
Visit http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com
Type in the complete web site address or URL in the search box and click on the "Explore URL" page, and you will see for yourself whether that site is truly just a single salesletter page, or if it contains over a hundred pages.
The Yahoo! Site Explorer service will reveal to you how many Pages they've indexed from the site that you are researching on, and how many Inlinks point back to the URL that you searched for.
The Inlinks will also give you a glimpse of how that site operates. For example, are the third-party sites linking in related to the site? Or do those linkers cover completely unrelated topics?
If the topics are completely unrelated, or if you notice that the links are usually tiny text placed at the bottom of a web page, then chances are those links are paid links. If they are paid links, then the link is unnatural.
With unnatural links, you can experience high search engine rankings. But how long do you think it will last?
If your site is just a single salesletter page, beef it up with more articles that will help your target market, or partner with a content site that contains information which your customers will appreciate.
