It’s only a few weeks before Christmas, and traffic snarls are becoming a common sight here in the Philippines. Thanks to the internet, however, you can do your shopping online and have your gifts shipped to your loved ones.
Here are examples of items you can order:
- Gift Certificates
- Linen / Towels
If you’re planning to send chocolates to a loved one in the Philippines, I would recommend Ferrero Rocher. For some reason, that brand is popular among my fellow Filipinos.
I personally prefer Lindt chocolate. I guess I’m part of the minority.
For electronics, you can’t go wrong with digital cameras. It seems that a lot of Filipinos already have TV sets, and most of them will pine for a digicam. I would recommend Canon cameras, particularly the IXUS series.
Linens and towels? Well.. that does sound corny. Especially for the holiday season. But if you’re going to give that to someone, plus other items (i.e., chocolates), then those will still be appreciated.
What about maps? That’s another rather un-creative Christmas gift idea. Why would a typical Pinoy need a map? Then again, you might have a male friend in the Philippines who almost has everything.
Framed photos will make a handsome gift, particularly if your friend has recently moved to a new home. Scenery and sunset shots are quite popular.
And when it comes to wine, Merlot will be a safe choice.
For food, why not think out of the box and gift someone with dried herring in oil? Afterall, people will be up to their necks in sweets and cakes, your unique gift will surely stand out. Just be sure, though, that your recipient likes tuyo in the first place. (I do! *hint* *hint*)
