After trying BlogRush for a few days, here are some observations and tips you can use in creating your third party web traffic strategy.

1. Hold back on the pageviews.

You might think I've gone bonkers. In an earlier post (A Blog Rush of Visitors), I mentioned how having many pageviews earns you display credits in the BlogRush network.

So why hold back? Well, you don't need to earn a lot of display credits to see if BlogRush will work for you. Just enough will do.

If you immediately stick the code in your mega high traffic sites, you'll probably just end up giving away too much information needlessly, if you know what I mean.

(I'll tackle the quest for traffic and its impact on business, in the upcoming Strategic Problogging ebook. Stay tuned!)

2. Write compelling post titles. But not too compelling.

The BlogRush box displays blog post titles. If your titles are blah, no one will click on them. So make them compelling.

But not too compelling. Again, you don't want to give away certain information right away. Afterall, we're still in the testing phase of BlogRush. Why give it everything you've got right now, right?

3. Target those who will look at the BlogRush box.

No matter how interesting your blog post title is, if someone is not even looking at the BlogRush widget box, then he or she won't even know your post exists.

Who actually take the time to look at such a box? Perhaps it's the people trying out BlogRush themselves?

From there, you will be able to craft article titles aimed at such a crowd.

Prior to this article, I'm seeing a clickthrough rate of less than 1%. Let's see how things go in the coming days.

If you haven't tried this, or if you're simply curious about how you can attract more visitors to your blog, then try BlogRush today. It's free!
