Socrates Socratous launches Resell Rights Fortune, a searchable directory of various PLR and MRR material that Socrates has purchased and collected over many months. The question is, will this help you make money online? And what are private label rights (PLR) and master resell rights (MRR)?
As a quick backgrounder, there are people who write articles (and sometimes even entire ebooks), and then sell you the right to place your name on the material. Yes, they're like ghost writers. The right they give you is called PLR, and the written material is known as PLR articles or PLR ebooks.
In another case, some people allow you to resell their ready-made products (resell rights or resale rights) so that you can keep 100% of sales. It's as if you own the product itself. In the case of Master Resell Rights, you are even allowed to sell to other people the right or license to resell such products.
In short, the time you need to create a product has been shortened considerably. How's that for an instant product, right?
Now what Socrates Socratous has done is put together all of the PLRs and MRRs he has collected, placed descriptions about each product, and now allows you to search his database of such files. So if you're looking for a PLR or an MRR about a specific topic, you can now rapidly search through thousands of files and hopefully find the one you're looking for.
The idea here is to allow you to quickly find which products have Giveaway Rights, which ones you can use as web content, which items you can bundle into an ebook, which infoproducts you can resell (and allow others to resell), and which ones are actually software.
The database search function needs a bit of additional work, though. For example, it looks as if you will always be given the chance to browse through 163 pages of products. Even if there's just one item that talks about Twitter, you will be shown at least 10 PLR products.
The only clue are phrases that talk about keyword relevance or category relevance. Sometimes, even if the keyword relevance is zero, the product is still listed. Wouldn't it be more convenient if the listing would simply show one product, if indeed there really is just one product about Twitter or Hubpages in the RRF collection?
Just the same, I'm confident that this is a minor issue that Socrates' programming team can easily address. Afterall, 14 months of development is no joke. They have probably covered a lot of issues by now. That's why this slight adjustment is something that will hopefully not take too much of their time.
In addition, Socrates mentions that if you are a subscriber or member of Resell Rights Fortune, you can even request that he add certain PLR products to the RRF library. If you're interested in Twitter, Squidoo, Hubpages, Social Media Marketing, or Web 2.0 then by all means, go ahead and let him know.
I have gone through some of the available PLR products, and have quickly made use of a couple of them. It will take a few weeks before we see the results of those experiments. That's enough time given the 100% satisfaction guarantee offered by RRF. You might want to initially go for the 30 products a month package instead of the 90 products per month, because you might end up downloading products left and right.
From what I've seen, you're given credits each month. At 10 credits per ebook, that's 300 credits for the $27/month (30 downloads) package. If you don't use up your credits, your level is simply topped off. There doesn't appear to be any carry-over into the following months.
In other words, if you only consume 30 credits (or 3 downloads) of your 300 for this month, when the next month rolls in your credits will be topped off and go back to 300. It would be nicer if the unused credits of 270 were added to the next month's 300, for a wonderful 570 credits at the start of the succeeding month.
I mean, think about it. You did pay for 30 downloads a month, right? And if you'll be hard-pressed to consume whatever you can within the month, then you may end up just downloading left and right since you don't want to "waste" your credits.
And if you do that, then you'll be experiencing the very same problem that RRF wants to solve. You need to rationalize your collection of PLRs and MRRs and not just let them gather digital dust in your hard drives. We need to somehow re-think they way we collect things as we dream about how we will someday make money from all the content stored in our external hard drive.
Socrates Socratous shares one way of using PLRs in eBay to make hundreds of dollars on top of a $10 investment. You get a PLR product or PLR ebook and create a smaller report (say 10 pages out of the ebook's 60 pages). You then advertise in the eBay Classified Ads section (listing fee of $10, good for 30 days), and invite people to download the free report.
When people (who are searching for something to buy) see your classified ad in eBay, they will sign up or subscribe to your mailing list in order to download the free report. Once they're in your list, you can then market to them the longer and complete ebook. Assuming your ebook sells for $10, then one sale a month helps you recover your eBay classified ads listing fee.
What you do need to make this eBay business model work, or to at least test if you can make this work is an autoresponder, the ability to accept online payments, and the PLR material. And that's where Socrates and his Resell Rights Fortune searchable collection of PLRs comes into the picture.
So if you're excited about PLRs and the opportunity to make money online, then give RRF a try. Go ahead and download even just one product, quickly put up a classified ad in eBay, and see if you can make this work for you. You'll never know if you can make a fortune in resell rights unless you try, right?
