What's the use of posting online videos if no one will watch them, right? And if you do have videos in YouTube, what about those other sites that attract an entirely different crowd? If you're into videoblogging or blog promotion with the help of videos, you'll need to get the word out. Here's how to promote your videos easily, quickly, and for free.

There's a whole world of video outside YouTube: sevenload, Facebook, MySpace, Google Videos, Yahoo Videos, Dailymotion, Blip.tv, Photobucket, Metacafe, Revver, Veoh, Vsocial, Vimeo, Putfile.

You can quickly post your videos in non-YouTube services with the help of HeySpread.com

TubeMogul.com, on the other hand, even allows you to track videos and video publishers in Google Video, Metacafe, MySpace, Revver, Yahoo!, AOL Uncut Video and YouTube.

(Found out about TubeMogul because I follow the Firehorse88 Twitter account of Kevin H. Davis, so if you haven't been Twittering please check this new world outside of blogs.)

Mass Submit Videos: A Good Idea?

If we post the same video in so many other web sites, what's the value in that? It's similar to submitting the same article in multiple article directories. It would be better to have videos that are unique to each online video community.

Occasionally, it may be all right to send your video to all those sites, especially if it's generic enough. Ideally, though, you'll get better results if you approach these sites with a theme in mind.

For example, place your personal vblog videos in YouTube, your wacky how-to's in Revver, your more formal lectures in Google video, and so on. Sometimes, you can spread your high-promo video across multiple sites if you feel your various audiences will appreciate it.

Let's say you wish to promote an event that will appeal to your audiences across multiple video sites. Create that video, and then mass submit it. But please do this sparingly or others will get bored with your duplicate video content.

How exactly will video bring MORE traffic to your site? You can display your site's URL at the beginning, end, or even throughout your video. You won't be able, however, to track how many visitors went to your site as a result of that video experience.

You can display in your YouTube description a clickable link to your site. For example, please see the description beside the Intelli Guitar Tuner video. In that case, you'll be able to check your webstats and see how many visitors clicked-through to your site.

If you post videos online, please promote them. Otherwise, what's the point, right? Unless, of course, you wish to limit viewership to just a few friends.

And if you haven't uploaded your own video, what's holding you back?
