Profitable WordPress Themes?
366 words | Last Updated: February 26, 2009 |
If you want to increase your online income, you will need to do a bunch of experiments. For example, how do you know that your current WordPress theme is the best that your site can use? What if a different layout or ad placement will help you make more money online? What if changing your WordPress theme makes more visitors linger longer in your site?
That's the key phrase: What If?
When you get used to asking yourself "what if", then you will find it easier (and sometimes even more exciting) to try new things. These trials will help you learn something, whether it refers to a tactic that works, or an approach that does not quite pan out the way you wanted it to.
In the end, there's no waste. You learn something and move on to higher income or more visitors for your site.
So, what exactly is a profitable WordPress theme? Does it contain two columns or three? Do the permalinks point to the blog post itself, or should your post titles link to the homepage of your site?
Do you include AdSense? What about those popular 125x125 pixel square ads? Do you fill up your sidebar with widgets? Or do you go for a minimalist design and display just one AdSense ad?
No matter which design you choose, you will be able to expand your horizons and break free of whatever rut you may be in by learning this skill...
Yes, I'm talking about FTP.
If you want to find out which are the more effective WordPress themes for your particular site (and your particular visitors), you will need to learn how to transfer those themes from your hard disk (assuming you've downloaded the files from free or premium WP theme sites) to your webserver.
The program I recommend is FireFTP (if you're using Firefox), and here's the FireFTP How-To for Beginners (8 Steps) which I highly recommend you spend some time reading.
The secret to making money online? Experiment. Often.
So go ahead and learn FTP, and tweak your WordPress blog themes to online success!
