PR0 to PR7 In Nine Weeks?
583 words | Last Updated: June 16, 2007 |
It's quite tempting to accept Duncan Carver's quick PR7 power blog package immediately without considering the following points.
1. Having a high pagerank such as PR7 does not mean you'll surely rank high in the search engines. It does not automatically follow that your site will get flooded with traffic.
(I've seen sites with low PR outrank sites with higher PR.)
2. You can earn advertising revenues via link selling, but advertisers will not just look at PR. They'll also look for traffic and even click-throughs. There are some, though, who will be happy with getting a link from your high PR site.
Here's how the deal goes for $97 each month:
You'll be given a folder in a high PR "authority site", and that site will feature your folder. So, if you create blog entries in your folder which link to your existing sites, you'll be able to pass along some PR juice to your other sites.
That's how Duncan's worm farming site is PR7 even if the domain was just registered in February 2007.
Which brings us to this next question: What happens to our folder if we no longer wish to pay the monthly $97 subscription fee?
Once we lose control over that folder, then we'll also lose the high PR links that we pointed to our sites.
Based on a Text Link Ads value estimation tool, WormFarmingSecrets.com can earn an estimated $60 per month for each text link sold. Sell two links and that easily covers your $97.
Imagine a Squidoo set-up, where your lens is featured right from the start. Yes, that's what $97 a month can give you.
I like Duncan Carver's business model even more. Imagine, people will pay you so that they can add content to your authority site, which increases your site's value even more (because of the original content).
I don't know how Duncan created his authority site in the first place, but his free link management script may provide some clues. Afterall, when you give away a useful script, a lot of webpages will link back to your site.
Lots of backlinks equals higher pagerank for your site. And that perpetuates the authoritativeness of your website.
You can try Duncan Carver's Power Blog offer to quickly gain a high PR for your sites. But please don't stop there. Offer something useful in your webpages, so that other folks will naturally link to you.
Who knows? Someday yours will be THE authority site, and you'll also get others to pay you just for the opportunity to add more content to your site.
June 16 UPDATE: I saw the authority site, and it has a pagerank of PR6. Duncan is optimistic that the PR will be higher in the next update (late July or early August?). Given that homepage PR6 plus the fact that links to inner blogs do not stay permanent on the homepage, I estimate those folders at PR4.
So, is it worth setting up a blog in his authority site at $97/month, given the present PR levels plus the fact that text link ads in the homepage are estimated at $34 per month per link?
It depends on your cash flow levels. If you join now, be prepared to spend time and money between now and October 2007 (about 5 months) before the links you place in that power blog pass on appreciable PR juice to your current websites.
Anyway, I'll give another update in August. Let's see how pagerank levels change at that time.

Interesting. They used to call them presell pages or hosted marketing pages... ngayon meron na palang presell blogs and presell marketing blogs
[From Manuel] Hi, Marc! That's how marketing goes, I suppose. It's all about packaging. Or repackaging.
With all the hype about Dancan's PR 0 to 7 story, I think there is much that need an answer. Duncan keep mentioning about his so called ' Authority site' but why on earth he didn't reveal the name of this site? Would it not be a more honest approach to clearly sellls links (or blogs) from your authority site without hiding all facts about it ?Further, just why this authority website does not appear on Google backlink search? In my opinion there is no authority site. It's just a trick of his free script.
I've seen the authority site, Eklavya. As of September 19, 2007 it is still at PR6. I don't know how a PR6 site alone can make your site PR7. On the plus side, that "secret" site's advertising value was $34 per link in June 2007. Today, it's at the $44 level.
People say they have seen the authority site. Whats the URL? I would like to see it.
It would be better if the URL were revealed by Duncan Carver. Anyway, as of September 7, 2008 it is now a PR 5 site. Google has indexed around 11,000 of that site (about 10,500 of which are in the supplemental index).
Here's an Alexa traffic chart covering the past 12 months.
I leave it to you to figure out what happens to some authority sites that are updated regularly by people who are after SEO benefits.
