Popular Web Sites and Traffic

If you want to get a lot of traffic, you need to go to places where people gather online. Once you're there, make yourself visibly useful, and the crowd will notice you. And that's one easy way of sending hundreds of visitors to your site for free.
The question that remains, though, is: where are these popular web sites?
Well, wonder no more...
Here are The Top 100 Sites In The Web 2.0 World. They are ranked from highest to lowest, according to the number of feeds that reference them.
Actually, 103 sites are listed. And if you think about it, you'll find double that number.
If you look at the righthand column, you'll find a list of places where each of those 103 sites were last mentioned. In other words, URLFan.com appears to be monitor that righthand list of sites.
So here are a couple of traffic-boosting to-do's for your site:
1. Visit each of those 103 popular web sites, and get a feel of what makes them popular.
2. Visit each of those righthand colum sites, and see why they bothered to link to any of the 103 favorite web destinations.
Do this around 7 times, and you will see the pattern.

(Speaking of popularity, this was highly evident in today's HappySlip Meet 'n Greet. Christine Gambito was treated to an outpouring of love and affection from bloggers and fans. I told Erwin Oliva that I was surprised HappySlip was this popular in the Philippines. Didn't realize that a lot of Pinoys watch YouTube and even invite their non-internet using relatives to sit beside them and watch those wonderful HappySlip videos.)

How about Josh Verdes?? Was the attention towards him during the meet and greet surprising?
Josh was more than warmly received, and the audience support was clearly evident during each of his three songs! Some fans were even quite vocal ["I love you, Josh!"], and the people eager to have their photos taken with him were simply amazing. I'll be posting some of those photos soon.
Was I surprised with all the attention Josh was getting? Not anymore. By the time I saw all those people milling around him, the reality that so many people [even 3 year-olds!] love Christine Gambito (HappySlip) and Josh Verdes so much had fully sunk in.
Wow even 3-year-olds?! Cool.
great post. Is it in the right order. I read somewhere that mininova.com or org is the 55 most visit website. some of these websites i never heard of before.
