The ranking speed depends on content and backlinks, based on the sites that I've seen.

For beginning bloggers, adding 3 posts daily to a single blog will grow that site better (for authority building purposes) than adding one post daily to each of 3 blogs. Somehow, it's harder to grow a blog beyond 200 posts if you just stick to a particular niche topic.

I've seen focused blogs and general blogs rank right next to each other in the SERPs for certain keyphrases. The focused blog is one entry higher, although the general blog's post appeared earlier (by about 5 days).

Then again, it's better to test, because conditions vary. :-)

This is the never-ending struggle I face. Just started blogging a couple of months ago, but I can't stop coming up with fresh ideas especially as I surf around the internet. Already have about 10 blogs going on various subjects, all have been SEO'ed but it takes so much time to promote them & then get good content, but if I just concentrate on the one or two blogs, I feel like I'm missing out on money making opps, especially as it takes about 6mths+ to build good traffic.

Not sure about your argument about wikipedia.. they gained fame for a very good reason.. I think if it wasn't a wiki site, they would've struggled to gain PR unless they had a big marketing budget. My belief is that sites/blogs that cover multiple subjects take longer to rank than authority sites on one subject. Thoughts?
