562 words |
Niche Video Site Builder (NicheVideoSiteBuilder.com) makes an interesting promise: You can automatically create profit-pulling niche video sites that people will flock to. Is this for real, or is it just another scam? Let's take a closer look...
Jean-Philippe Schoeffel's updated software basically composes a web page that contains playable YouTube videos about a certain topic or niche focus. The premise is that more people visit video sites than any other site, so if you create a predominantly video site, you'll get lots of traffic.
Uhm... If you're YouTube, then that probably will work. If you're just starting out (plus the fact that you'll be populating your site with YouTube videos), don't expect traffic to grow overnight.
If you can do a better job of organizing the videos than YouTube, then you might attract a considerable audience. If you can tweak Niche Video Site Builder (NVSB) such that it displays your exclusive videos (found in your server, not in YouTube), then you stand a stronger chance of gaining lots of visitors.
Anyway, I like the way NVSB prominently displays links to related videos. These links lead to inner pages in your website (where you installed NVSB), which helps keep your visitors in your site longer.
Will your video-hungry audience help you make money from your site? It will depend on the advertising model that you use. NVSB showcases Google AdSense ads sprinkled generously around the videos, so I wonder how viable that strategy will be.
Afterall, the content is not yours. It belongs to the original video creators who uploaded these to YouTube. And your plan is to earn advertising off their work? Hmmm.
The key, therefore, is to add value. Don't just put up a video site, fill it up with other people's videos, slap some ads near the vids, and then hope to make money. You'll need to add some personality. Add a bit of yourself to the web page.
I read the NVSB salesletter and saw this in the Q&A portion:
Will my visitors leave my site when they click to watch a video?
NO. Your visitors will only leave your site...when they will click your paid links / ads. None of all the links on your side will make your visitors leave your site.
That claim is not quite accurate. In some cases, your visitors will leave your site when they click to watch a YouTube video embedded in your site. Not every visitor knows this technique, though, so I'll just let that quibble slip by.
UPDATE: Some video owners have recently disabled embedding. I hope a future version of NVSB can detect this and no longer display such videos in your site. Otherwise, you'll just waste the time of your visitors who'll click and just see the message: "This video is no longer available."
So, is Niche Video Site Builder just a scam of a software?
No, it's not, especially if you use the system properly. Just like most tools, it can be harnessed well or abused. If you're going to use NVSB, please avoid the temptation to turn your niche video site into a MFA (Made For AdSense) site.
There is a better and longer-term strategy for such video-centric sites. And I'll reveal it in a future Special Report. Stay tuned!

There's a better one than Niche Video Site Builder...
It's Fireball Video Site Generator.
Not to mention, a cheaper but better one. Or maybe the best one around.
Ian del Carmen
Thanks, Ian! I'll give your $9.97 Fireball Video Site Generator software a try.
So, bro...
What can ya say?
Any reviews?
We can't wait to see your site!

It's easy to use, Ian. I'm just trying to figure out how the system gets the data. The other software talked about Google APIs, and even implied that other scripts are using the soon-to-be-decommissioned YouTube API.
Does FVSG use the Google (GDATA) or YouTube API?
Anyway, will post a review soon...
UPDATE: Looks like it uses GDATA. The script doesn't work on a site hosted in DreamHost, but it does work on a different webserver. Will experiment some more.
hi! i totally agree...i bought the software on a bit of a whim i confess, as a way of better parking some domains i have but quickly realised you need to do more. instead, i've started integrating it into a few sites where the video content is a valid and useful addition (although i'm still tweaking the code to read well in firefox) - eg: http://www.livinginitaly.com/italian_recipes/
It didn't works in GoDaddy Hosting also, but I think it's about with rewrite rule issue on .htaccess
[From Manuel] Thanks for the insight, Rivermaya! I'll go make some tests with .htaccess
There's also a script at http://jce-tech.com/phptube.php that does something similar but it doesn't have mod-rewrite from what I can tell and it requires a MySQL database (too bad).
I was wondering if anyone knew of a script or if NVSB is able to be integrated, say in the top fold of a webpage, then some content, and perhaps another script running, such as an ebay store? I guess I could imbed the videos directly from code, but I'd like it to just auto update.
@Jake - Thanks for the heads up on that alternative script.
@KillinDatJob - Will ask around. That would definitely help solve the issue behind the crackdown on purely YouTube video-content sites.
Hi Manuel,
I just read about this
http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=71011&ctx=sibling
in your opinion, is video site builder still save with adsense on it ?
I'm bit worry
Good point, Rivermaya! The key is to add content. Don't just build a "video only" set of pages. Since these auto-video systems come with web page templates, you can add content to the templates such that the content is significantly much more than the video portion.
I was quite pleased when i bought nvsb, I have built 10 sites over the last few weeks, and just got banned by google adsense today! not happy at all. Complained to nvsb but they said that the sites were approved by adsense, and i was just blaming them. who else do i blame then? something has gone wrong then. I have no other sites with adsense on-very strange

While going through our records recently, we found that your AdSense
account has posed a significant risk to our AdWords advertisers. Since
keeping your account in our publisher network may financially damage
our advertisers in the future, we have decided to disable your account.
Sorry to hear about that, Stephanie. Perhaps the pages contained very little original content?
I've never had good experience with these kind of "bulk site builders". Did it work out for you?
[From Manuel] The results have been mixed, Dimson. It greatly depends on the topics you choose to build sites for.
