Pardon the pun but, have you heard the latest in audio advertising? It's called NetAudioAds, and it helps you make money online even if your visitors do not click on anything. In fact, they don't even have to see anything. This probably helps address the issue of banner- or ad-blindness, because you earn whenever visitors hear a 5-second audio ad.

Is this right for your web site? Here's how you can tell...

1. Do your visitors expect audio? It's possible that your visitors will get annoyed every time they land on a web page and hear a sound or audio ad. But if they've come to expect a non-silent web page at your site, they probably will not mind.

For example, do you post video clips on your site?

But if your site provides scholarly, shhh-you're-in-the-library content, then most likely your visitors will get thoroughly annoyed. Fortunately, they can always turn down the volume of their computer speakers, but that wouldn't be fair to your advertisers, right?

Manuel's Tip: Use audio ads only with a receptive, flash-enabled audience.

2. Do your visitors have short attention spans? If your blog posts are shorter than 400-words per post, then your visitors won't mind the occasional audio ad or two. Afterall, they don't have to see or read anything, and they don't even need to click on anything. It's just there, in the background.

3. Do you have a low number of pageviews per visitor? If your visitors, on the average, view less than 2 pages on your site each time they visit, then they probably won't mind those audio ads. But if based on your web stats, you see that they read 3 or even 5 pages in your site in one go, then those 5-second sound bites can become quite pesky, if not downright irritating.

4. Is your site currently not earning from online advertising? If your pristine web page does not have any banner advertising, then audio ads can serve as a less intrusive way of making money online.

In the end, it all boils down to--you guessed it--TESTING.

So far, I haven't seen any earnings. Well, it's just been two days. ;-)

There are just a few available ads (100,000 so far), but quite a lot of online publishers participating (30,000 perhaps?). Not all participating sites are even playing those audio ads, although I know of one blogger who has already earned a whopping... $1.

Yes, ONE dollar. Before you scoff at that performance, however, please remember that some probloggers started with just 10 AdSense cents.

Anyway, let's not judge too hastily. Let's first test, shall we? :-)
