"Assuming only 0.5 percent of their followers click on a URL promoted in Twitter, and visit their blog only once in a month, that's 200 visitors. And if only 2 percent of those 200 go on and buy the $1,000 monthly service, that's $4,000 in monthly recurring income thanks to Twitter."

Yeah, the math is true, but I doubt anyone gets a click through rate that high via Twitter. Perhaps 0.5 percent of the readers will click through- though even that may be generous. And that may only be 10% of the actual followers. And then a 2% conversion rate on the sale? Pretty optimistic.

More likely is a 5% read rate, with a 2% click through rate, with a 1% conversion rate. That would give you one sale for every 100,000 followers.

But, like the figures quoted above, this is purely speculation. Who's got the hard data??
