What is Armand Morin up to in Internet Marketing Explained? He has a blog which provides internet marketing training in video format for FREE. And he releases these 7- to 30-minute videos every 2 to 3 days.

Here's what I think he's up to...

1. He's trying to be different and rise above the crowd. How many people produce Camtasia-recorded PowerPoint presentations of what are essentially bullet points? The other internet marketing person who comes to mind is Jermaine Griggs of Nitty Gritty Marketing.

2. He's trying to hold the attention of people. When you blog in text format, people will be able to quickly skim your post in as short as 30 seconds. When you go the video blog route, however, your readers turn into viewers. Some of those people will stay on your page for as long as 30 minutes.

3. He's getting people excited. Is text exciting? For some. Okay, for a few. When you get someone with the speaking skills of Armand Morin, listeners can't help but get excited also. If you visit the Internet Marketing Explained blog and sample any of his videos, you will see (or hear) exactly what I'm talking about.

And I mean, EXACTLY. (All-caps text doesn't come across quite as effectively as the spoken word.)

4. He's aiming for the broadband market. Ever try to watch a 7-minute video using a dial-up connection? Either you don't have anything else to do, or you have the patience of an armadillo trying to cross a busy highway.

Video works best with internet broadband users. And if you have broadband, there's a good chance you have a higher amount of disposable income. ;-)

5. He's giving people value. What kind of value is that? Is it the information? Perhaps. Actually, it goes beyond the information he shares.

For example, Armand Morin has a 7-minute video about The Internet Marketing Model, which can be presented in the form of an image and about five paragraphs of text, which you will probably scan in just 37 seconds.

37 seconds. What's the value in that?

Well, if you take the same basic information and then create a PowerPoint presentation which you then walkthrough over the next 7 minutes, then your viewers will feel the value of...

...your TIME.

The fact that you're spending time "speaking with" your viewers in a chatty, conversational way makes your viewers/listeners feel valued too. They see that you took the time (instead of just quickly blogging away at your keyboard) to record a video, and they set aside some of their time to listen to you.

Let me repeat that: Your visitors invested some of THEIR time to listen to you.

Somehow, beneath the surface, there's a lot of internal selling going on. People will watch the video and tell themselves: "Wow, Armand is giving me a lot of value here! For free! I wonder what the physical product is going to be like? When can I buy it, and when will it be delivered?"

And that, my friend, is a great example of internet marketing magic in action.

(Si Armand Morin, Pinoy talaga.)
