If you’ve been blogging for quite some time, you’re probably wondering how you can improve your Alexa Traffic Rank. After studying a number of year-old blogs, here’s what I found.
First of all, I was inspired to write this because of Jozzua.com’s I (Link) Love You (which hilariously reminded of that 1999 internet craze about Mahir, a Turkish accordion player who popularized the phrase “I Kiss You”).
Anyway, if you like to increase your Alexa Traffic Rank, then your content has to attract people who have the Alexa toolbar installed in their computers. Otherwise, their visits will not be noticed by Alexa.
I’ve seen year-old blogs whose traffic rank is hovering around 1,800,000 (the lower the number, the better), and yet others at the 300,000 level (achieved in less than a year).
The main difference? The location of the site’s readers.
No, I’m not suggesting you ignore your local readers (who most likely do not have that toolbar installed), and neither am I asking you to stop blogging about local events. Just consider that you can write posts that appeal to a more international audience.
Yes, I’m talking about readers from: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and other countries.
If your content can attract people outside the Philippines, then your traffic rank will rise.
