Firefox and Gmail Quirkiness?

For some reason, when I access Gmail using Firefox, it takes a while to connect. And when it does connect, I'm offered a basic html view.
But when I visit Gmail using Internet Explorer, I'm offered the standard view.
Have you experienced this? How'd you correct it?
