Friendster, MySpace, and now... Facebook. Here's how you can easily drive traffic to your web site with the help of social networks.

When you create your own account at Facebook.com, take the time to search for groups related to your interests. Based on what you find, the number of members in each group will give you an idea on how much demand there is for that topic.

This demand will not be based on some keyword tool. It will be based on the people who have accounts in Facebook. In other words, your site can expect a new kind of traffic.

From what you've seen, ask yourself how you can provide more information to those different group members. See what gaps exist, and post the missing information in a folder in your site. Once you have that folder ready...

...create your own Facebook group.

When you create your own group, you can publish the URL of your site as part of the group's description. You can also publish deep links to inner pages of your site in the "Recent News" section of your group.

This tip is sustainable if you provide useful information. Otherwise, the Facebook community may get upset if you create a spammy group.
