Do Blogs Suck?

Andy Beard writes about Why Blogs Suck, and some bloggers have been wondering if all this posting online is worth the effort. Well, it depends on whom you're writing for. By focusing on a certain segment of the market, you can multiply your blog's effectiveness tenfold. Here's why, and how.
Andy Beard writes that blogs suck for lead acquisition, and that you need to get more qualified subscribers.
But what exactly makes a subscriber "qualified"? Is it someone who eventually buys your product or who follows your recommendation (and buys via your affiliate link)?
Or perhaps it boils to this one point: Who are you writing for?
Are you writing for yourself?
Are your posts for the benefit of other bloggers?
Or are your posts of interest to non-bloggers?
You know, non-bloggers. They're people who do not have time to blog, because they're busy doing other things.
Things like shopping online, for example.
So if your blog helps online shoppers, then your blog will become an e-commerce miracle. And if you prefer to write articles that are blogger (not shopper) magnets, then harness that traffic and channel it to your higher revenue blogs.
(You've heard that Darren Rowse removed Adsense from his site, right? It's the site that caters to probloggers. Not just bloggers, mind you. Probloggers.)
If you're wondering when your blog will ever make money online, remember to ask yourself who it is you're writing for. And once you've found your focus, get ready for the exciting ebiz ride of your life.

What I mainly get from Andy's entry on as to the reason why blogs would suck is because of the subscribers rate, but personally I think it's a bit of a weird measurement since definitely not everybody subscribes.
Myself in example I go by quite a bit of blogs of which there's definitely some to be named which I frequent, but I haven't subscribed on a single one of them. I simply stick to bookmarking still, and I have no doubt that there's a lot more like that.
So perhaps 2% might subscribe, but it says absolutely nothing if 30% would bookmark and 90% of the total visitors are returning visitors in example.
Whether your blog "generates" a lead via bookmarking or subscribing, you'll still need to deal with whether your bookmarkers/subscribers are qualified, or whether your reader-fans are worth your blogging effort. Worth will depend, though, on your particular objectives for your blog.
