The Monday that follows Thanksgiving (last Thursday of November) is also known as Cybermonday, and that's when people search the web for discount product sales. You can better understand the search behavior of shoppers, and use that to drive more traffic to your web site.

cybermonday-2007.jpgGoogle Trends provides a tool that shows you the search volume of popular phrases or words such as Cybermonday. These trend graphs are shown on a daily basis, and the time shown is based on PST.

You can easily see when the peak of those searches occur, with the help of the trend graphs:

Nov 23 - 8PM (PST)
Nov 24 - 2PM (PST)
Nov 25 - 8PM (PST)
Nov 26 - 7AM (PST) [Cybermonday]

What does this tell us? Even if it's already Cybermonday, people will still search for product deals and discounts on the internet early in the morning. You can then use those different popular search times to, for example, broadcast an email to your list of subscribers.

If you broadcast too early, your email may get buried along with the rest of their incoming messages. But if you send your message around 20 minutes before those peak search times, your email has a better chance of sitting comfortably near the top of their Inbox, where your customers will easily see it.

What if you don't have a mailing list? What if you just have a blog, and you'd like to time your post to match the time when a lot of people are searching for "Cybermonday" or "Black Friday"? I'll be releasing a Special Report about this. Stay tuned!
