Mike Filsaime launches Butterfly Reports, a viral marketing and instant content solution that helps drive more visitors to your site. While it sounds like an internet marketing dream come true, there are certain pitfalls that you need to be aware of.
The system is basically a library of brandable PDF reports which you may download and distribute to anyone you wish. Whether you give it away for free or even sell it, the point is you have access to instant content.
And here's Pitfall #1: Who Owns The Copyright?
A number of people will be uploading reports to the Butterfly Reports library, and you might happily download and distribute those while thinking that the person who uploaded the report is the copyright owner. What happens if such is not the case?
The solution: Use the search engines and see if you can determine the true owner of that report.
Pitfall #2: Article Quality Is Not Consistent.
While there is a regular BR staff tasked with producing reports, other members of the BR community are allowed to contribute also. And even if an editor does review the uploaded PDFs, you probably know what happens when many writers get together, right?
The solution: Take the time to personally review the reports you download, before you distribute those to others.
Pitfall #3: How Sustainable Is This?
I've seen cooperative-types of article libraries in the past, and the common experience is that over time, the number of quality articles contributed each month drops off after about six months. Given this, I recommend you hold off on the annual membership plan.
Just to clarify, there is a free and a paid subscription. The basic difference lies in how many reports you can download or upload each month.
How many reports are available?
There's only a few, at the moment:
- Business to Business (11)
- Computing and Internet (9)
- Fun and Entertainment (2)
- Health and Fitness (6)
- Home and Family (5)
- Marketing and Ads (7)
- Money and Employment (4)
- Pets and Animals (1)
- Society and Culture (2)
- Sports and Recreation (1)
How can this bring more traffic to your site?
If your blog or site lacks content, you can download and distribute those free PDF reports. People will flock to your site because you offer good information for free. This assumes, of course, that you carefully choose which PDFs to download, and that you ensure the topics match the needs of the audience that you are trying to attract to your site.
Check out Mike Filsaime's Butterfly Reports (www.butterflyreports.com) and download a free traffic-magnet of a PDF file today.
Before I forget, there is another way you can attract more visitors to your site. If you write your own quality report (which displays a link to your site) and you upload it to the BR library, the other BR members will download it and spread it around. How's that for viral marketing impact, right?
Just be sure, however, that your report contains at least 4 affiliate links. Otherwise, the upload system will not accept your report.
Here's a tip: If you intend to upload more than 10 reports a month, then go for the Platinum package.
How can this help you earn money online?
Inside those free PDF reports are affiliate links to various online merchants in Clickbank or Paydotcom. When your visitors download your free PDFs, and purchase products from the merchants mentioned in those reports, you'll earn a commission (assuming it was your affiliate link they clicked on).
Depending on your membership level, 25% of the links or even 75% of the links will be credited to you.
If affiliate marketing is not your cup of tea, then in your PDF report, link to your salesletter page or your opt-in page. This way, people who read your report (remember, it will be spread by BR members all around the web and perhaps even in offline media) will have the chance to see your product online, or subscribe to your mailing list.
Just remember, though, that traffic-building or revenue-boosting activities with the help of Butterfly Reports will succeed if you distribute quality reports to your visitors. Part of that quality includes providing links to sites that actually provide value to people.

Good morning sir! Off topic po. Just dropping by to say "thanks!" for yesterday's tips at the book launch!
True..offering nice free articles would be a good option to get valuable readers for our blog.
Thanks for that tip. I already know it since before but the funny thing is that I haven't tried it yet. It is good to be reminded in that matter.
Nice meeting you and the gang, Watson! Looking forward to seeing you implement those tips.
Edwin, here's to more articles in the future.
Mike's marketing machine has been very impressive for a few years, now...but with the erratic quality of information that passes as Internet Marketing INFO products, I'd be very wary about getting excited about the products. This is no reflection upon Mike in any way, just my reaction to continual disappointment.
More and more, I find that what interests me are INFO products that have little marketing behind them, certainly no OTOs...and usually a fairly mediocre sales page.

Thanks, Andrew. Let's see how much quality content Mike's BR staff will produce in the coming weeks.
By the way, Manuel, I rate your blog highly!
