Marketers are taking greater notice of the internet and the potential of mobile marketing. As more companies evolve and adapt in the changing marketing landscape, it's time to recognize the efforts and achievements of the pioneers in this new field.

The Boomerang Awards 2007 seeks to recognize "the role of Internet and Mobile platform in building the business of brands, services and companies in the Philippines."

It uses the metaphor of a boomerang because when you experiment and do something new, you know that you have succeeded when you are able to achieve your objective. In the case of a boomerang, the objective is to be able to catch it on its return flight.

In the field of internet and mobile marketing, throwing a boomerang into the air is like broadcasting your message through the web or via cell phones and other mobile devices. Catching the boomerang is similar to gaining market share, for example, as a result of your online or mobile marketing efforts.

Have you launched any internet or mobile campaigns in the Philippines between January 1, 2005 and March 31, 2007? Then you can participate by submitting your company for entry into any of these categories: Cyber Boomerang, Mobile Device Boomerang, Gold Boomerang, Board Of Directors Boomerang.

Here are examples of internet marketing campaigns:

  • Websites
  • Multimedia banner advertising
  • Jump pages, Landing Pages and Interstitials
  • Viral marketing: Product launches, Promotional Campaigns and Games
  • Integrated Campaigns: Using at least 3 of the above forms with Cross-Media utilization as support (single or multiple use of Broadcast, Print, Billboard and Roving Media)

And here are examples of mobile marketing campaigns:

  • Campaigns for Branding, Direct Response, Promotions, Relationship Building, Product and/ or Services Launch
  • Integrated Campaigns that utilize Mobile Phones/Devices as Central Component with Cross-Media Integration (single or multiple use of Broadcast, Print, Billboard and Roving Media)

Here's an idea for internet and mobile marketing integration: Bloggers can make their RSS feeds available via mobile phones. I'm now beta testing a service (hence the curious [FM85-9] text in this post's title), and will publish more details about it once the beta period ends. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, check out the list of jurors for the Boomerang Awards 2007: Rob Martin Murphy, George Gozum, Tom Sipple, Dominic Chan, Stephane Chabanel, Jose Illenberger, Jun Alcantara, Dr. Karen de Asis, Prof. Tommy Lopez, Sec. Durano, Donald Lim, Ed Mapa, and Arthur Policarpio.
