During the 2nd Philippine Blogging Summit, someone (Mike Abundo's co-admin in Cosplay.com) asked about blogs and libel.

[May 17, 2006 Update: Sorry about that, Mike. I meant Pinoycosplay.com :-) ]

First of all, I'm not a lawyer.

Anyway, I once posted a blog entry that was not libelous (it did not identify the person/organization). I received, however, a bigfoot letter that ordered me to remove the post and to promise never to post it again.

Although my lawyer said I would win the case (in case the other party decided to sue me for libel), I would have to shell out about P30,000 in the process.

I decided to just delete the post (which was about questionable search engine optimization practices).

Mike Abundo asked who was responsible for comments posted on a blog (see Epixtar threatens to sue blog for comments). I said that whoever has the power to delete such comments in the person ultimately responsible, in case someone complains about the contents found in the web site.

(Maita, feel free to post your comments here in ManuelViloria.com, since my main site's blogging software does not handle commenting efficiently.)
