Would you like to empower your employees? Encourage them to blog.
As an entrepreneur with a growing workforce, you will need to help your employees develop various skills. By encouraging them to blog, your employees will be able to hone their communication skills. But it does not end there.
Blogging helps preserve institutional memory. When your employee leaves your company, you lose more than just one person. You lose that person's experience as well as his or her working relationship with the people who remain in your organization. With blogging, however, you will have some kind of record of tips and notes which will help future members of your organization.
(If you're worried about proprietary information, then place your blog network in an intranet.)
If you encourage your HR professionals to blog, you will be able to establish an e-learning resource for the rest of your company. The notes in text, images, audio and video can help speed up knowledge transfer within your enterprise.
Want to get quick feedback from within your organization? Publish a CEO's blog of sorts, and allow your employees to post comments anonymously. The faster you get the bad news, the earlier you can find solutions.
With blogs, employees are empowered to voice their opinions and share their thoughts (and even their expertise). They can do this no matter where they are, as long as they have access to the internet. And since ideas can pop up in their minds at any given time, getting your people used to blogging can help capture those spontaneous sparks of creativity. Wouldn't you want to tap into the collective intellectual resource of your people?
How can entrepreneurs build an army of employee-driven blogs? I'll tackle that in a future post.

As an HR Generalist, am communicating my advocacy thru blog and slowly introducing the concept in my own area.
Hi Sonnie! Here's wishing you success in your endeavors. Just curious, though... how did you get your colleagues to blog or write? A lot of our kababayans tend to balk when it comes to writing.
Some set up their blogs but kept it private. The closest they participated is when we set up a discussion thread at lotus notes. But, youre right, they are afraid to write or document their thoughts. Perhaps out of fear that they may be persecuted by the company
