Do you get frustrated when a lot of your potential subscribers do not confirm the Aweber "response required" mail? Do you wish there were a way to increase your list subscribers? Well, here's what worked for me...

1. Let them know who will send them the confirmation email. In your sign-up page, tell your subscribers that they will receive an email requesting for confirmation. Clearly state who the email sender is, and what the subject line will look like. Show them what the body of the email will look like, and which link they'll need to click on.

2. Tell them again. Show them, too. In your "Thank You" page (the one that appears after they submit their Name and Email), repeat what you previously wrote about the need to confirm their request. Add a screencast or video tutorial that shows them what the email will look like. Show them an example of you clicking on the confirmation link.

Show them where to look (i.e., the bulk folder) in case they don't see the Request For Confirmation email in their Inbox.

3. Give them an email alternative. A number of Yahoo users seem to miss the confirmation mail, especially if the message is delivered hours later. It's easy to forget, right?

In your "Thank You, Please Confirm" page, show them how to sign-up for another email service such as GMail.

4. Promise an Unannounced Bonus. Usually, sign-up pages will give a reward. Something along the lines of: "When you sign-up, you will be able to download a free report about..."

In the "Thank You, Please Confirm" page, give them an additional (unannounced) bonus after they confirm their request to join your list.

5. Present a Consistent Brand. Avoid using the default Aweber confirmation pages. Take the time to build web pages that look like your site, which will serve as the "Thanks For Subscribing" and the "Thanks for Confirming" landing pages. In those pages, display your domain name prominently so that people will be able to spot your emails immediately.
