Michael Cheney launches a limited automatic income system program aimed at newbies who want to make money on the web. The offer can look quite compelling, but is it for real or is it just a scam?
Here's a healthy dose of skepticism, plus some tips on how you can quickly assess if this is for you, or if it's healthier if you simply walk away. Or better yet, here's how you can gain insight on the selling process of Michael Cheney, which can help you boost your income online....
When you visit Michael Cheney's Automatic Income System, you will see your typical salesletter or salespage, only it's in video format.
Unlike most online videos, however, there are no video controls: You can't stop or pause the video, and neither can you move the slider bar to the end (where you'll see the price of the product).
Since the video is a little over 28 minutes long, you will need to sit through more or less the entire vid before you finally find out how much Michael Cheney's latest product is going to cost you. This represents some kind of pre-qualifying process, because people who are willing to wait that long just to know the price:
- Are keenly interested in the product.
- Have access to broadband internet.
- Have a higher level of disposable income.
So here's the deal that Michael offers you:
- Four professionally designed web sites (but no screenshots)
- Four professionally written salesletters (again, no examples)
- Pre-written content (180 "pieces")
- Free advertising (on Michael's network of high traffic sites)
- Listbuilding
All these tie-up with this internet business model: You need your own Product, which you put up on your own Website, along with Content, that helps you attract Traffic, so that you can build a List of subscribers.
You need your own product because you will earn more. Unlike affiliate marketers who earn a percentage or a commission, selling your own product gives you 100% commission. Of course, this assumes you do not have your own network of affiliates who can help you promote your product.
Skepticism #1: What are those four products? And what happens if 499 other people join the Automatic Income System Membership and Coaching Program? What competitive advantage do we gain, if there are other people using the exact same products and websites?
Now it's not enough for you to just put up a 5-page (or less) web site which contains nothing but salesletters of your products. You will also need supplementary content to flesh out your web site. With the 180 "pieces" of content offered by Cheney, then you can build a 180-page site.
Skepticism #2: What are these 180 "pieces"? Are these 500-word articles? Or are these examples similar to those 180 Clickbank follow-up letters? And how can you attract traffic from the search engines if the content you use is similar to (if not the same as) that used by those 500 other members?
(The 500 is just a guess. It could be just 300, or even as low as 50.)
Let's assume you don't get too much search engine traffic, but instead rely on your advertising credits. So your site gets advertised in Michael's network of high traffic sites. Depending on the location of your ad, let's assume that you will experience a clickthrough rate similar to lot of online publishers: 0.20 percent.
Skepticism #3: If Michael's sites get 3000 visitors daily, a 0.20% CTR gives you 6 visitors each day. How many of those 6 do you think will subscribe to your List?
Wait... I'm not saying this is all just a scam.
For all you know, you might even learn a lot from the Personal Coaching (60 days) offered by Michael Cheney. And who knows? Perhaps someday your name will be featured in Michael's short list of successful students who have generated sales of tens of thousands of dollars in just a few days (I wonder, though, why they don't show the profit figure).
All I'm saying is that for 98% of the people who do try this program, the results you dream of will not appear within the first six months. In fact, you might even earn money faster if you join the Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader contest.
So go ahead and watch (and learn from) Michael's Automatic Income System video, and see what all the fuss is about.

My recommendation: Just learn from the sales technique presented in the video, and walk away from the product. Unless, of course, you're a newbie who is willing to invest a not-that-small amount of money, plus a few months of your life learning the tactics of an internet millionaire who gets to travel 8 times a year, yet who's hard at work churning out product after product each quarter.

Just read your post on Michael Cheney and enjoyed it very much, especially since I was thinking about buying it. Now, I know we newbies are like shooting fish in a barrel, but somewhere there must be an honest marketer out there who can REALLY help the newbie make a few dollars per month. Starting from the ground up without all the fanfare and bells and whistles.
Well thanks for listening to my opinion, and hopefully we (the newbies) will find that honest guy who really does have a viable training product where a "few" dollars can be made......

Thanks for the heads up, Emma. When I visited that site, there were still 11 slots left. I wonder if the newly-opened 19 slots were 19 people who decided to drop out of the coaching program. I also noticed the highlighted: " NOTE: All sales are final and NO REFUNDS can be offered in this sale." The selling price is still the same $497.

I purchased the Automatic Income System and am really getting a lot out of it. I have bought several programs online, but Michael Cheney took a lot of the mystery out of some things I was getting stuck on. He provides a ton of info but I like that he has a step by step video format - great for newbies who would like to have their own product with easily understandable step by step instructions in getting up and running on the web fast. His marketing system is simple, clear and easy to understand, and it works. But like anything, you have to do it and take action.
