Audio Video Riches

Have you heard about Audio Video Riches (AudioVideoRiches.com) by Jason James? The $97 video course will teach you (among other things) how to put video online. You can get it for $40, though, if you act quickly.
Ian del Carmen has an Audio Video Riches for only $40 Promo, which is good until midnight (EST) on March 29, 2007. Beyond that, well, it's going to be $97 (or even higher).
Here's what I've seen from a few online tours of Jason James' Audio Video Riches: (Please note that I have not purchased the product; I've only seen product tours.)
Part 1 - 6: Hardware, software, video cameras, firewire ports.
Part 7 - 20: Planning, recording, capturing and editing video; making videos web-ready; preparing templates; uploading video to the web.
Part 21 - 35: Video editing, transitions, audio, music, adding pictures, titles, overlay effects, making DVDs, green screen effects.
I've used a Canon IXUS 30 to take videos, and that didn't require any Firewire cables/ports. I haven't tried making any DVDs (because my audience uses mostly VCD players) and I haven't created any green screen effects. Based on experience, I can say that...
...it is NOT easy to create, edit, and upload video to the web.
It will take a LOT of your time. Think in terms of 4 hours to produce a 5-minute video. And that's not counting all the trial-and-error you'll experience just getting videos, audio, music, titles, and photos to work together into one cohesive presentation.
But if you're having fun, then why not? Enjoy the momentary sense of satisfaction, because it will probably disappear when your relatives start asking you to make videos of their get-togethers and other family events. Then again, if you're really having fun, you probably won't get bored producing videos.
If you truly are passionate about video, then perhaps you'll invest in lights and green screens. But if you're going to produce less than five videos, well...
I noticed that some of the people promoting Audio Video Riches (AVR) have produced Camtasia screencasts. It's basically a recording of screen activity with a voice over. There's no integration of music, transitions, titles or overlays (although Camtasia can produce all those).
I was hoping to find AVR affiliates who would actually produce a video. Then again, this product is probably quite new that people have not had the time to actually read and apply the lessons taught in the course. To speed things up, here's my offer:
Bonus: If you're an AVR affiliate who has produced a full-blown integrated video (titles, audio/music, transition, still photos, video clips) because of AVR, please let me know and I'll link to your affiliate marketing page which shows that video. People who land on this page because they were searching for "Audio Video Riches" will probably be quite inclined to get the product, right?
(Manuel's disclosure: I'm not getting any affiliate marketing commission for this.)
In a rather hype-y inner salesletter page, Jason James writes:
For example, videos which go far beyond the "herky-jerky" motion of the "web-cams of the past" and take only seconds to start playing instead of minutes, even with a 56K dial-up connection.
Hmmm. I'm on a broadband connection, and Jason's video examples do not start playing within 60 seconds. And when they do start playing, the playback is stop-and-go. Of course, once the video has fully played, replaying it is a much smoother experience.
As for videos taking only seconds to start playing for dial-up users? Those are most likely tiny videos encoded at a much lower bit rate.
Yes, $97 for Audio Video Riches can be quite steep if you've already produced videos in the past. The $40 promo offer of Ian does look tempting, though.
Here's a sample video (no floodlights, no green screen, no DVD) I produced way back in October 2006:
That video helped increase my speak Tagalog podcast subscribers by about 117%! Well, that's not exactly amazing considering there were only about 50 audio podcast subscribers/listeners before the video was promoted.
If you're really curious about creating your own videos online, you might wish to consider Ian's promo offer. Feel free to post your questions about online video in the comments area below.
