In Day 6 of the Thirty Day Challenge, Ed Dale stresses the need to notice several aspects about your targeted market or niche topic. There's no room for judgment at this point. Just observe and notice.

Here are tools to help you accomplish that.

In the first of two Day 6 30DC videos, you're asked to visit Google and search for your niche topic's affiliate programs. If your topic is beach sandals, search for beach sandals affiliate in Google.

If you look at the main search engine results, you will get an idea of how many beach sandal merchants online have an affiliate program. If there are plenty, then you can safely assume there's probably money being made. If you look at the advertisers above or to the right of those search engine results, you'll get a better feel of the market because you'll see how serious marketers are in this industry.

In the second Day 6 video, you'll see how Ed Dale uses Google Trends:

Google Trends will show you the volume of searches for a given phrase over time (i.e., the past 3 years). You'll see if demand is seasonal, fairly steady, growing, or declining. This information will help you decide when to create and launch your product, or if you should even bother.

You'll also see the reasons for the spikes in search demand, whether it was just due to some news event such as a calamity, or due to genuine buyer interest in that particular item.

A number of experienced marketers may say that affiliate program searching is basic stuff. Afterall, Allan Gardyne has an Affiliate Programs Directory at AssociatePrograms.com since probably the start of internet marketing history when people didn't call them "affiliate programs" yet.

Others may add that Google Trends has practically been blogged to death for so long.

Yet Ed Dale promises info in the coming days that will surprise even the most hardened of internet marketing veterans. Stay tuned for that!
