It appears that if you build a new lens at Squidoo.com, you'll have a lens rank of 67,401 (or does that mean there are at least 67,401 lenses now at Squidoo?)

I quickly put up an Affiliate Marketing Tips lens at Squidoo, and am curious about how quickly (or slowly) the lens ranking will change.

UPDATE: In only about 16 hours, the lens rank jumped up to #16,317. The highest ranked affiliate marketing lens in Squidoo is hovering near the #2,000 level.

Day 2 - Rank went up to #14,759 even if I did not add anything to the lens. I noticed that the RSS feed section disappeared, though; perhaps there are issues with Feedburner.

Day 3 - Rank went down by 865 to #15,624 which gives us some kind of shelf-life idea. It pays to update your Squidoo lens at least every other day.

Day 4 - Rank strangely went up to #12,443 even if I did not update the lens. It now looks like it's not just the frequency of updates that affects the rankings. Go figure.

Day 5 - Rank now at # 11,689 (again, no updates were made to the lens). On the 16th hour, rank dropped to # 12,361.

Day 6 - Rank slips to # 12,957 and I'm guessing a week with zero updates will make your rank drop faster than 672 levels per day.

Day 7 - Rank slips further to #13,620 -- week-old content in Squidoo tastes stale.
