If you use AdSense in your site, you have the option of showing only text ads, only image ads, or a combination of both. Traditionally, people have found that text ads are noticed more by surfers. But which one should you use?

Check out these various combinations...

First Choice: Text and Image Ads. This is a popular choice, because it is the most flexible. It is very easy for you to just settle with this and just happily end your testing experiments. Sometimes, however, downward movements in your clickthrough rates will force you to try something new.

Why are fewer people interacting with the ads? Are they getting bored already?

You need to create three AdSense channels so that you can monitor which option is best for your site. For example, you can name your different channels:

  • 336text
  • 336image
  • 336textimage

(We're assuming that your article appears as a block of text somewhere in the middle of your web page, and that the ad appears in the upper lefthand corner of that block of text.)

Since you have three different channels, you will need to create three different variations of the AdSense code, and assign each variation to the proper channel: text ads only, image ads only, or text and image ads combined.

You can use a PHP script to randomly rotate the three different ads, and your AdSense stats will show you which combination earns you the most.

And when you get webhosting at Host4Profit (Order Code: 1028), some techies will install WordPress for you in your H4P site, plus a special script that will help you choose an even better AdSense set-up for your site.

For example, the simple PHP rotator script will just tell you which AdSense combination is "best" for your site. There are only three choices. The Special H4P 1028 Script, on the other hand, will allow you to test your ads depending on the personality of your site visitor.

Did you catch that? With the PHP random rotator, you will not be able to take into account the personality of your visitor. It's a simple random rotator. Meaning, the first visitor is shown a text only ad, the second is shown an image-only ad, the third is shown the text-or-image ad, and so on.

In other words, if you find out that the text-only ads earns you the most, you might end up displaying purely text-only ads.

With the script that will be installed (thanks to the H4P 1028 Promo), you might discover that for visitors exhibiting what we call Personality Type #1, text-only ads will earn you the most. For Personality Type #2 visitors, on the other hand, image-only ads will earn you the most.

Therefore, your blog can be programmed to show the appropriate ad-type, depending on what kind of visitor you have. This will earn you more than a single "let's show text-only ads" or "let's just show image ads" policy, right?

Relax. You don't have to worry about the technical aspect. All you need to focus on is the content of your blog.

Afterall, when you get webhosting at Host4Profit (Order Code: 1028), the techie stuff will be handled for you. You'll also get a detailed explanation of how it works, and why it works.

With AdSense, you always need to keep testing. It's a good thing there are scripts out there that help you do the tedious work, and then show you what your market wants. No need for costly guesswork, right?

For those of you who wish to do things manually, here's the Adsense tip: Test text versus image versus text+image ads. You might discover something surprising, and that will help you increase your online advertising revenues.
