AdSense Success In Two Months
945 words | Last Updated: March 25, 2008 |
Do you want to make money online with AdSense? Here's a quick case study of someone who began with a new site earning $0 per day, and then moved up to $33 a day (in pure AdSense dollars) in just 60 days.
Here's what he did...
First of all, Mike (not his real name) did a LOT of writing.
And when I say "writing", I mean original content.
What does "a lot" mean? Well... 240 articles in two months broken down as follows:
- 120 articles for his web site
- 120 articles submitted to EzineArticles.com
Please take note that all the 450-word articles are original and unique. This means that even the ones submitted to EzineArticles are not duplicates of those already found in his site.
Goal: Write your article within 30 minutes.
If this shocks you, then perhaps this approach is not for you. Afterall, Mike was able to do it because he truly enjoys writing an average of 4 articles a day (two for his site, and two for EA).
(He gets his content thanks to good old research: library, bookstores, some online research. He focuses on health topics, but only gives information for purposes of education. He does not give out any medical advice.)
IMPORTANT: Your content does not have to be fantastically written. Basic, 4th-grade writing will do. And if you don't have time to write as many articles for EzineArticles as the ones found in your site? Then try submitting one article to EA for every four articles you put in your site.
Second, Mike choses his keywords carefully.
He uses WordTracker (please refer to How To Write Keywords) to generate a list of keywords, and notes which ones are the "low hanging fruit", meaning those keywords which have little competition. He always keeps in mind the more competitive (but in high demand) key phrases, though.
What do we mean by "little competition"? These are keywords that have 300 or fewer competing sites. In other words, how many web pages offer information about the keyword you are targeting? If there are less than 300 web pages, then that keyword is treated as having little competition.
But which keywords are profitable?
Mike uses SpyFu and targets keywords which have at least 10 advertisers, and where the minimum bid price (or Advertiser's Cost/Click) is US$0.30 (the more advertisers and the higher the minimum advertiser charge, the higher the profit potential for you).
So, what's the strategy of Mike?
He writes articles targeting the easy-to-rank-for words and phrases, and then eventually produces articles aimed at the more competitive keywords. Makes sense, doesn't it?
Get your pages in the search engines (because you targeted the "easy" keywords), and then go for the harder ones later on when your site has gained more search engine credibility.
So yes, you can gain online credibility in as short as just two months with the help of unique, 100% original articles.
Anyway, Mikes places the keyword phrase in the Title, once or twice in the first paragraph, and sometimes once in the last paragraph. The articles are very straightforward as far as his web site is concerned, although some "wordsmithing" may be done in the case of EzineArticles (EA).
For example, if your keyword is "AdSense Success", then an article in your site could be titled "AdSense Success", while a similar article that you will submit to EA might be titled "AdSense Success In Two Months: The Secret Revealed!"
The article in EA will, in the Writer's Resource Box, contain a link called "AdSense Success" which points back to the article found in your web site.
Third, Mike uses a professional, uncluttered site design.
He used a basic two-column layout that protects visitors from any kind of distraction. He judiciously includes images in his web pages to increase his AdSense clickthrough rates, but without violating any Google TOS.
He also uses a color scheme that is quite the opposite of what a lot of AdSense gurus have taught in the past. And although his approach continues to work for him, Mike is humble enough to acknowledge that it is not the only way to succeed with AdSense.
In fact, he encourages you to continue using YOUR own color scheme if you've discovered that that's what works for you.
Fourth, Mike chooses an effective AdSense ad format, and places it strategically. There are many ad sizes to choose from, and numerous spots to place these on your web site. In the case of Mike, however, he sticks with the popular 336 pixel rectangle ad.
Please remember, though, that there is no guarantee you will earn $900 each month in AdSense earnings starting the second month of your web site. You could be earning less, or even more, depending on your capabilities.
BONUS: If you are willing to write 150 - 240 articles in two months, the Host4Profit 1028 Promo techie group will create for you, the Host4Profit 1028 Promo customer, your very own web site that uses a similar layout, color scheme, and AdSense ad placement that Mike used to go from $0 to $33 a day in two months.
You will need to submit your other articles to EzineArticles yourself, but there'll be a tutorial explaining how to do that.
So, are you up to the 60-day Content Creation Challenge? Here's wishing you all the best in your quest for AdSense success.

Nice article. I was wondering though...are his 300 competition searches or less in quotes? And does he have a minimum number of searches per day for each keyword?
Thanks
Great post. The Spy Fu tool looks useful, I haven't used it before. I usually write at least one new unique article per day and submit it to Ezine Articles. I then outsource more articles and target multiple keyword phrases.
@Terry - No, not in quotes. And he focuses more on the number of advertisers (plus bid price) than on the searches per day for each keyword. If the demand for some keywords is quite low, he'll put 3 to 5 of those low-demand keywords in one web page.
CORRECTION: It's with quotes, Terry.
@Dave - Are you happy with outsourcing? Some of my friends have given up on this.
It all depends on who you use to outsource the articles and how much you are willing to pay for them. A good writer will produce great unique content that you can use to generate traffic and gain one way links for your chosen keyword phrase. It can be quite hard to find a decent ghost writer on Elance and other websites but once you find one the results will be good. If you don't have time to find a ghost writer you can just use a service like need-an-article.com which is very cheap (about $5 per 400 to 500 word article) and the quality is quite good.
Wow, 240 articles is a ton to write yourself. Like Dave, I'm a big fan of Elance for getting reasonable content at a decent price. I've had a lot of luck with local college kids, too. There are plenty that will do great work for $5-7/article. It's not much money, but it buys beer and they can work whenever they want, so most I've worked with love it.
Great info here. Content is the way to go and create a genuine website.
