If you're wondering how effective the tactics of Neil Shearing's 10 Day Cash Secret are, then consider first what you are given: a WordPress plugin that grabs affiliate data feeds, a self-updating WP blog, search engines which regularly crawl your site, and decent search engine rankings (if you're lucky).

Here's what you're not immediately given, though...

1. A long-term strategy.
2. A more substantial data feed.

Wait... let's go back a bit. An affiliate data feed is a file that contains the product inventory of an online merchant. This can be in the form of product photos, plus a link that leads to more info.

A WordPress plugin then takes these affiliate data feeds, and then automatically publishes each product into its own post or entry in your WP-powered blog. This assumes your webserver is setup to run a certain program at certain time intervals.

So if you want the system to auto-post every 10 minutes, then 6 times an hour you'll find a post added to your blog. Yes, this will all be done automatically.

When you check out the example sites, however, you'll quickly notice that the blog posts contain little more than a photo of the product, a single- or double-line description, plus an affiliate link to the product page.

That's it.

If you're lucky enough to have your blog post ranked highly in the search engines, a chance visitor may help you earn an affiliate commission. And it is possible to experience this in as short as 10 days, hence the title of the ebook.

But in the long-run... what is the value of your site (from the point of view of the search engines)? If let's say ten of the over 165 customers of Neil Shearing actually implement this and happen to use the same free affiliate data feed, which of those blog posts will Google display in pages 1 to 3 of the search engine results?

Perhaps the 10 Day Cash Secret Support group will reveal in the future some kind of long-term strategy. For example, don't just rely on the automated postings. Go and publish posts in that blog yourself!

That's right -- set the autopost to something like once every week. Then go and manually post a worthwhile entry everyday. This way, search engines will see that your site contains unique content.

After a while, your unique posts will far outnumber your automatic posts. When you've reached that point, you can adjust the posting frequency of Neil's WP plugin from once a week to say, once a day.

Then adjust it again once you see that the autoposts are starting to outnumber your unique posts.

If you just rely on the short-term aspect of the 10 Day Cash Secret, it's very easy for your online experiment to end in just another ten days. If you want your blog to last longer, then try these tips:

1. Post unique content.

2. Edit the auto-posted entries, and add more descriptive paragraphs. This can be quite challenging, though, because those posts will mostly be product entries. And what can you write about Product 1 (black) versus Product 1 (red), right?

3. Look for non-free affiliate data feeds. The ones at Commission Junction, for example, can be yours for a set-up fee of $200.

Bottomline: Using the 10 Day Cash Secret as-is can help you earn some affiliate commissions within the first two weeks. If you want to make it last, you'll need to put in more effort in terms of writing content. But if you're just a newbie, especially in terms of unique content, then I recommend you focus your efforts first on producing your own content.

(If you're a content veteran who's willing to risk it, try the plugin in one of your older, content-filled sites, and see what happens. Remember, there's a risk the search engines will grow allergic to your site. But if you're willing to spend another 10 months recovering from a potential penalty, then why not, right? Especially if that older site is making less than $100 a month.)
